Optical Character Recognition

The Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature in Fusion Suite is designed to validate and extract information from official identification documents, such as ID cards, driver’s licenses, and passports. Utilizing an AI-based model, it supports document-type validation and native data extraction on mobile platforms. Integration with approval bodies can be enabled for enhanced authenticity verification, ensuring secure and reliable document processing.

How to Perform OCR

Follow the steps below to scan and verify your document using the in-app document verification feature:

Step 1:
Select the Get Started option to begin the document verification process.

Step 2:
Place your document inside the designated scanning frame on the screen.

  • Ensure the document is fully visible.
  • Align it properly without tilting.
  • Avoid glare, shadows, or reflections for the best results.

Step 4:
Once both sides are scanned, the system will automatically run an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) check.

  • The OCR will detect and validate the document type
  • Relevant information will be extracted for verification.

Step 5:
After processing, your result will be displayed on the screen as either:

  • Scanning Succesful: The document is valid and accepted.
  • Session Failed: The verification could not be completed because scanning was unsuccessful.
Results are automatically logged in the Web Dashboard for tracking and audit purposes

Web Dashboard

The Web Dashboard provides a unified interface to monitor and analyze all OCR scan requests in one place. It offers a high-level summary of activity, enabling quick identification of trends, successes, and issues within the verification process.

Data Overview / Statistics

This section provides a real-time numerical snapshot of OCR operations over the last 7 days:

  • Total Requests Received: The complete count of OCR scan requests initiated.
  • Image 2
  • Requests Verified: The number of scans that were successfully processed and confirmed as valid.
  • Image 2
  • Requests Declined: The number of scans that did not pass verification and were marked as failed.

List View

The List View provides a detailed history of all OCR scan requests, including:

  • Device ID: A unique identifier for the device used to initiate the scan.
  • Device Model: The make and model of the device.
  • Operating System: The OS type and version.
  • Status: Indicates whether the request was Verified or Declined.
  • Document Type: Specifies the type of document scanned.
  • Failure Reason: Details the cause of failure for declined requests.

Filters

The dashboard includes filtering options to customize the view based on your needs as you can utilize OCR for more than one document, depending on your needs:

  • Multi-View: Displays scan results for all document types together, giving a complete overview of verification activity.
  • Individual View: Focuses only on a single selected document type, making it easier to analyze performance or troubleshoot specific document categories.

Failure Reasons

OCR verification may fail due to the following issues:

  • Timeout: No document is detected within the 120-second scanning window, often due to delays or improper positioning.
  • User Cancellation: The user exits or closes the OCR process before completion.
  • Scanning Error: Data extraction fails due to blurred images, glare, shadows, or poor document alignment.
  • Camera Permission Denied: The device’s camera access is not granted, preventing scanning.
  • Miscellaneous Error: Unclassified issues, such as sudden application closure or technical glitches.
